One thing I've learned (from On Writing by Stephen King) that I've been wrong about for a long time is that when a person's name ends in s & you're using an apostrophe to show possession, you still use a second s. For example, it should be Dennis's car (not Dennis' car) or Alexis's dog (not Alexis' dog). It's so good the weather has turned nice and I'm still sitting inside reading. It's told from the perspective of a girl, recounting her life since before her own birth, who is abnormally large. The doctor, who she didn't see until she was five, mentioned a possible pituitary gland problem but everyone else thinks she's just monstrous. It's so well written it's difficult to tear my eyes from the page. The poor girl was also blessed with an angelic sister of delicate proportions so she's constantly reminded from all fronts how ugly and ungainly she is.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09986882657264504155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824701644895226834.post-62007971023448187482010-09-06T10:31:29.019-04:002010-09-06T10:31:29.019-04:00Thanks for the recommendations, Jan! Maybe if I posted more often I'd attract more interest...

Anyway, I shelve my books first in broad sections (for instance, a section for gardening, one for writing, one for literature, etc) and then by the author's last name, then by title if I have more than one book by an author.

I drastically downsized my book collection when we built a new house six years ago, but I'm starting to amass a healthy number of books again and will soon require new book shelves from IKEA. I don't like books to be crowded; I want space for a few photos or other objects here and there to add interest and prevent the books from losing themselves on the broad shelf.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09986882657264504155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824701644895226834.post-65713532106615347722010-09-02T14:04:47.812-04:002010-09-02T14:04:47.812-04:00I sympathize as I too am an organization freak.
